Neuromuskulær Elektrisk Stimulation ( NMES)

Compex

NMES (el stimulation) betyder, at den motoriske nerve (nerven der fremkalder bevægelser i muskler) stimuleres elektrisk for at fremkalde en muskelsammentrækning. Inaktive muskler gennemgår en forandring, hvor de bliver bl.a. svagere og mister deres udholdenhed. Dette sker i forbindelse med f.eks sygdom, operationer eller smerter.

NMES kan man påvirke muskulaturen positivt til at genvinde styrken og udholdenheden på en hurtig og effektiv måde. NMES kan også bruges med det formål at smertestille.

NMES er meget anvendt inden for idræt, både som restitution, til forebyggelse og behandling af skader .
